Civic Pulse Nigeria is a tool that watches over Nigeria's civic space, the room that citizens, activists, journalists, and organisations need in order to speak freely, organise, and hold power accountable without fear. We collect, verify, and publish real information about what's happening to that room: whether it's opening up or closing in.
Why this matters
Right now, if an activist is harassed in one state, a journalist is detained in another, or a new law quietly makes it harder for organisations to operate, that information often stays scattered. It shows up in a news report here, a tweet there, a WhatsApp forward somewhere else. By the time enough people notice a pattern, real harm has often already been done.
Civic Pulse Nigeria exists to close that gap, by pulling this information into one place, checking it carefully, and making it public so that civil society, the media, and everyday citizens can see what's actually going on, not just guess at it.
